Prime Minister’s Fellowship for Doctoral Research

  • It focuses on offering scholars exposure to the best national and international practices and innovations. Regular mentorship sessions with industry and academic experts, as well as external agencies, enhance the learning experience.

    Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • Eligible applicants are full-time PhD scholars in recognized Indian institutions with a registration date of up to 14 months.
They should have an industry partner ready to support the research project both financially and as a mentor. The research topic should be innovative, have practical relevance, and offer industrial applications.
  • Scholars should be open to collaborating with the supporting company during the project.

    How to Apply

  • Scholars applying for the fellowship should:
    1. Register on the dedicated portal, either www.serbficci-iirrada.in or www.primeministerfellowshipscheme.in.
    2. Complete the application form according to the provided guidelines.
    3. Submit the application online.
  • Establish a partnership with a company, ensuring that: 4. Both the company and the host institute sign the required undertakings.
  • Prepare all necessary documents, making sure to: 5. Collect them.
    1. Create digital copies for submission.
  • Fill out the online application form. 7. Note that there’s no need to send any physical copies to CII.

DBT-RESEARCH ASSOCIATESHIP (DBT-RA)

IN BIOTECHNOLOGY & LIFE SCIENCES FOR 2023-24

  • The Associateship is tenable in Premier Research Institutions/Universities including non-profit R&D Institutions within India.
  • The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India supports the awarding of the “DBT-Research Associateships” under their program.
  • Last date for submission of the online application – 26th October 2023.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Academic Qualification:

  • The applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Science, Engineering or M.D./M.S. degree in any area of medicine with research interests in Biotechnology and Life Sciences and a good academic record.
  • The applicants who have already submitted the Ph.D./ M.D./ M.S. thesis is also eligible to apply.
  • However, such applicants, if selected, will be offered a lower fellowship amount till they qualify for the eligible degree.

Age Limit:

  • The upper age limit is 40 years for male candidates and 45 years in the case of female candidates as of the last date of application.

Employment:

  • The applicants who are employed at the time of application are eligible to apply.
  • However, they have to relinquish their employment to accept the fellowship.

TENURE OF FELLOWSHIP

  • The Associateship is a purely temporary full-time assignment and is tenable for a period of 02 years with annual renewal.
  • In exceptional cases, the fellowship may be extended up to 04 years depending upon the progress of research.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Candidates can avail the DBT-RA fellowship only ONCE in their career.
  • Recognized academic institutions, national laboratories, and other recognized R&D institutions in India are the only tenable places for this fellowship. The host institution must offer administrative and infrastructural support.
  • PhD guides/co-guides are not permitted to work with the fellows.
  • Candidates cannot avail the fellowships at the same institution where they earned their Ph.D./M.D./M.S. degree.
  • A mentor cannot have more than 2 DBT-RA fellows at a time.
  • A mentor must hold a regular academic/research position in a recognized institution in India and should hold a PhD/MD/MS degree in science, engineering or medicine.
  • Superannuated faculty (e.g., Honorary Professors, Emeritus Professors/Scientists, and DBT Distinguished Professors) could also mentor as long as they can demonstrate that resources and labs are available to them.
  • Applicants from the Northeast Region (permanent residence located in the NER) can work in any university/institution in the country.
  • The program awards the Associate-ships, and they can use the research grants for minor equipment, consumables, contingencies, and domestic travel.

HOW TO APPLY

  • Application for the DBT-RA program shall be by ONLINE mode only.
  • To apply, interested applicants may kindly visit DBT-RA Online Portal https://ra.dbtindia.gov.in/
  • Applicants must register on the DBT-RA Online portal, fill in complete information in the online application form and submit it before the closing date of application.
  • The organization awards the Associate-ships, and the applicant needs to fill out the online application form, which includes information about Personal Information, Academic Qualifications, Research Contribution, Referee Details, Proposed Research Work, Proposed Mentor Details, and Proposed Host Institution.
  • Documents to be submitted along with Online Application Form include:

1. Self-attested pdf copy of DOB certificate

2. Self-attested pdf copies of degree certificates

3. A Consent letter from the mentor. (The format for the Consent letter is available at the DBT-RA portal.)

  • Names and contact details of the Referees are to be provided by the applicant while filling out the application form.
  • When you submit the online application form, you should send an email with a link to submit a letter of recommendation to the email addresses of all the referees mentioned in the application form.
  • Referees must upload a PDF copy of the letter of recommendation on the portal by 26th October, 2023. The applicant shall ensure that the referee provides the recommendation letter on time.
  • A letter of recommendation uploaded on the portal after the closing date of the application shall not be accepted.
  • Application forms not submitted through the DBT-RA Online Portal shall not be accepted.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE AICTE Doctoral Fellowship SCHEME

  • To seed, grow, and facilitate research for transforming the quality and quantity of research in AICTE-approved institutions/ affiliated Universities.
  • To fund enhance promote collaborative and outstanding peer-reviewed research between technical institutions and industries leading to start-ups.
  • To catalyze quality academic research for developing a robust ecosystem of research in AICTE-approved institutions.

Some of the key benefits of AICTE Doctoral Fellowship (ADF) Scheme 2023-24 Scheme.

THRUST AREAS FOR RESEARCH

  • Engineering and Technology
  • Management (New)
  • Design (New)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA – AICTE Doctoral Fellowship (ADF) Scheme 2023-24

  • The candidate must be admitted to Ph. D. in any of the engineering and Technology/ Management/ Design” programs approved by the AICTE at Post Graduate Level.
  • The candidate should have qualified for GATE/ GMAT/ CEED during the last 5 years in Engineering and Technology/ Management/ Design respectively. Validity of
  • GATE/ GMAT/ Design score at the time of admission is not mandatory.
  • The candidate should be below 30 years of age at the time of submission of the application form for admission to the university/ institute. For admission age relaxation of 5 years would be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ Women/
  • Physically challenged and 3 years for OBC category.

EMOLUMENTS AND ALLOWANCES

  • Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) = Rs. 37,000/- pm
  • Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) = Rs. 42,000/- pm
  • Contingency Grant = Rs. 15000/- per year

House Rent Allowance (HRA):

  • All ADF students may be provided hostel accommodation wherever
    available.
  • ADF students residing in hostels shall not be entitled to HRA.
  • Wherever hostel accommodation is not possible, HRA is allowed as per
    Central Government norms are applicable in the city where the admitting
    institution is located.
  • The percentage for calculating HRA will be based on the amount of
    Fellowship.
  • Leave and other Entitlements:
  • The ADF students are eligible for leave for a maximum period of 30 days in
    a year, in addition to public holidays.
  • Attending Conferences, Short-term Training Programmes, Workshops/
    Seminars and any other outstation research work with the prior permission
    of his/ her supervisor will be treated as “on Duty”
  • The ADF students are also eligible for maternity/ paternity leave as per GOI
    norms.

ADMISSION

The candidate shall be allowed to apply for ADF throughout the year after
completion of the admission process in the academic year.

JRF TO SRF UPGRADATION

  • JRF may be upgraded to SRF after completion of two years from the date of start of
    ADF is subject to the following mandatory conditions
  • The student has successfully completed the Coursework.
  • The research plan/ proposal of the student has been approved by the competent
    authority/ committee/ Student Research Committee (SRC)/ Departmental
    Research Committee (DRC) of the institute as per its applicable Ordinance.

EXTENSION OF FELLOWSHIP

  • No extension for ADF is granted. In exceptional cases, the duration is extendable up to 12 months or till the date of submission of the thesis, whichever is earlier followed by conditions:
  • The student must have successfully completed the coursework as per University/ Institution guidelines.
  • The research plan/ proposal of the student should have been approved by the competent authority/ committee/ Student Research Committee
  • (SRC)/ Departmental Research Committee (DRC)/ Supervisor and
  • HOD/ Principal/ Dean of the University/ Institute as per its applicable Ordinance.
  • The student must have:
  • At least 01 research paper accepted/ published in SCI/ SCIE/
    SCOPUS Journal.
    or
  • At least two (02) research papers accepted/ published in ESCI/
    UGC Care Listed Journals.
    or
  • Filed/ published/ granted at least one patent for his/ her invention
    by “The Patent Office of Government of India”.

Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) will award Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship to outstanding engineers to recognize, encourage, and support translational research by individuals to achieve excellence in engineering, innovation, and technology development.

Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship 2023

SCOPE: Covering all areas of engineering, innovation, and technology

ELIGIBILITY:

  • This fellowship is applicable to Indian citizens employed within India in various capacities of the engineering profession in publicly funded institutions.
  • Eligible applicants must have the requisite professional qualifications and hold at least a bachelor’s degree.
  • This applicant should have a minimum of five (5) years of service left in the parent organization as of the date of the award.
  • The applicant should not be holding any other fellowship and if selected, he/she will have to opt for only one of the fellowships.

DURATION:

  • The duration of the fellowship will be initially three years, extendable up to two more years depending on the performance.
  • The fellowship can be held for a maximum of 5 years.

NATURE OF SUPPORT:

  • The fellowship amount is Rs. 25,000 per month in addition to regular income.
  • The research grant amount is Rs. 15.00 lakh per annum, and researchers can use it for engineering research and innovation activities, including hiring manpower, purchasing consumables, funding national and international research-related travel, acquiring chemicals, equipment, and more.
  • An Overhead of Rs.1.00 lakh per annum will be provided to the host institute.
  • The fellow is eligible for regular research grants through the extramural and other research schemes of various S&T agencies of the Government of India.
  • The fellowship is taxable as per the IT rule of the Government of India.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:

  • Commercialized or deployable technology; pilot scale or field trial worthy technology; patent (field/ sold/ commercialized) working model or prototype for demonstration and trial.

NUMBER OF FELLOWSHIPS:

  • Each year, a maximum of 10 fellowships will be awarded.

SELECTION:

  • The Search-Cum-Selection Expert Committee, specially constituted for the purpose, will periodically make the selection of Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellows (normally twice a year), following the broad guidelines of the fellowship.

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) is starting a new programme ‘WISE Fellowship for PhD (WISE-PhD)’ under ‘Women in Science and Engineering-KIRAN (WISE-KIRAN)’ Scheme with the aim to provide an opportunity to carry out PhD in Basic and Applied Sciences. The project proposals are invited under the ‘WISE-PhD’ programme from unemployed women who desire to pursue PhD with this fellowship. 

The WISE-PhD Programme aims to empower women pursuing a Ph.D. in basic and applied sciences. Eligible women between 27-45 years, with age relaxation for SC/ST/PH category, can avail 3 years of comprehensive support. Join this initiative for academic empowerment, mentorship, and research opportunities in a diverse and inclusive scientific community.

WISE-PhD Programme: Empowering Women in Sciences for Ph.D. Pursuit

Subject Areas

Support is available in 5 subject areas namely, i) Physical & Mathematical Sciences; ii) Chemical Sciences; iii) Life Sciences; iv) Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, and; v) Engineering & Technology.

Eligibility

Women who want to register themselves for a PhD or are already registered in PhD but not getting any fellowship are eligible to apply to the WISE-PhD programme for financial support. It is mandatory to register for PhD within 6 months of receipt of the recommendation letter. The following are the primary eligibility criteria:

  1. Qualification: The applicant should have M. Sc./ M. Tech. or equivalent degree like B. Tech., M.Phil., M. Pharm. etc. in basic and applied sciences from a recognized University/ Institute.
  2. Age: The age should be 27-45 years. However, there is 3 years of age relaxation in the upper age limit for SC/ ST/ PH candidates.
  3. Employment: Women in regular employment are not eligible for WISE-PhD.

Project Duration

The project is tenable for a maximum period of five (5) years or till submission of PhD thesis, whichever is earlier.

Emoluments

The fellowship amount under the WISE-PhD programme is Rs.31,000/- along with House Rent Allowances as per norms, a Research Grant of Rs.1.00 lakh per year, and Institutional Overhead Charges as per DST norms.

Selection Process

A preliminary screening will be done of the project proposals received under WISE-PhD and a final selection would be made as per the recommendations of the Subject Expert Committees (SECs). The final decision of DST will be communicated to the applicants only after obtaining due administrative and financial approvals.

The call is open throughout the year for proposal submission under WISE-PhD at ePMS (https://onlinedst.gov.in). The proposal format is available at https://dst.gov.in, https://onlinedst.gov.in and ‘https://online-wosa.gov.in’ under WISE-KIRAN Division.

Deakin University is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the HDR ScholarshipResearch Training Program Scholarship (RTP) and Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (DUPR).

These prestigious scholarships, available to both domestic and international students, provide excellent opportunities for aspiring researchers to pursue their higher degrees at Deakin. With funding from the Australian Government and Deakin University, the RTP and DUPR scholarships offer a range of benefits and support to exceptional candidates.

The RTP scholarships are funded by the Australian Government, while the DUPR scholarships are funded by Deakin University. Both awards are available to domestic and international students. Only top-ranked applicants will be offered an RTP.

Deakin University Opens Applications for HDR Scholarships: RTP and DUPR

Application Dates and Key Information

It is important to stay informed about the relevant deadlines and requirements to ensure a successful application.

Benefits and Duration

Successful RTP and DUPR scholarship recipients will receive a variety of benefits and support throughout their research journey.

The stipend, which is tax-exempt, amounts to $33,500 per annum, effective from May 28, 2023.

Additionally, students relocating from interstate or overseas to study at Deakin may be awarded a relocation allowance ranging from $500 to $1,500, depending on individual circumstances.

International students will also receive a Single Overseas Student Health Cover policy for the duration of their student visa.

The duration of the scholarships varies depending on the degree pursued. For doctoral degree candidates, the stipend is provided for a period of three years, while tuition fee offset is available for four years.

Research master’s degree recipients receive stipend support for two years, along with a two-year tuition fee offset.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for an RTP Stipend, RTP Fees Offset, RTP Allowance, or DUPRS, students must be enrolled in an HDR course of study at Deakin University, regardless of their domestic or international status.

Applicants seeking an RTP Fees Offset should not be receiving a similar award or scholarship from the Commonwealth intended to offset HDR fees. Furthermore, students receiving income from another source to cover general living costs greater than 75% of the RTP or DUPRS stipend rate may not be eligible.

It’s important to review the research degree entry pathways page for detailed information on admission requirements to an HDR course at Deakin University.

Selection Process

The allocation of RTP and DUPRS Stipends will be conducted through a competitive process based on the ranking guidelines outlined by Deakin University.

Applicants must have completed a minimum of four years of tertiary education studies and demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, with a minimum of 80% or equivalent in the research component of their previous studies.

Factors such as relevant work experience, research publications, and other research involvement will also be taken into consideration. Currently, enrolled HDR students can apply for these scholarships, but there are limitations based on the stage of their course.
